Was dich erwartet

  • Echte Physik, ohne Formelblatt.

The Kolibri is no bigger than a caravan: a pilot seat, a kitchen corner, a glass dome to climb up into and a bobblehead cat on the dashboard. That is what you fly to a black hole in, to have a look at it.

Black Hole Explorer is a quiet exploration game. No enemies, no clock running out – only orbits, distances, heat, and the question of how close you dare to go.

What is waiting for you

  • A ship to live in. You walk around inside it, work every instrument by hand and extend it piece by piece: a greenhouse to port, an observatory to starboard, a hangar and a workshop at the back – all joined by corridors.
  • Real physics, no homework. Your orbit is a Schwarzschild geodesic, burns take hours of ship time, and how close you may get to a sun follows from the radiation balance rather than from a game bar. The HUD always says how far the clock is being stretched.
  • Three galaxies to jump to. Suns from red dwarfs to blue supergiants, black holes from stellar mass to supermassive – and asteroid belts, which are not bodies but places: a swarm of rocks from a few hundred metres to over seventy kilometres across.
  • A drone that really lands. It has the two drives every real spacecraft has: the torch to change orbits and cold gas for the last few kilometres. Touch down, drill, take a sample – and get back before the tank runs dry.
  • Supernovae you cannot win against. Neutrinos and gravitational waves arrive first, and then you have exactly as long as the shock needs to cross the star. Running is hopeless. Jumping is not – if you work out the coordinates fast enough.
  • Photography as a living. The institute pays for what you bring home: spectra, time measurements, close-ups, and – with luck and nerve – a video of a star exploding.

Controls

WASD and the mouse to walk, E for everything you can touch. In the pilot seat the mouse is the joystick, W/S gives thrust, Space pushes the jump lever up. F1 shows the controls.

The game is German by default; the title screen has a Deutsch | English switch that changes everything at once. Made with Godot 4.7 without a single asset file – ship, stars, black holes, sounds and surfaces are all generated from code and shaders at startup.
